BGI Welcomes Hunter Armstrong as New Executive Director

Experienced Advocate Joins BGI Team

We are thrilled to announce that Hunter Armstrong has joined the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI) as our second-ever Executive Director. Hunter brings nearly two decades of experience improving the lives of New Yorkers through transportation and open space advocacy.

Prior to joining BGI, Hunter served as the Director of Transportation Advocacy at Bike New York, where he led successful campaigns for safer streets, expanded bike infrastructure, and increased funding for transportation equity. He also played a key role in the development of the city's Vision Zero plan to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

Hunter is a passionate advocate for greenways and open spaces. He has served on the board of the NYC Greenways Coalition and is a member of the steering committee for the Coalition-Driven Path to an Equitable Citywide Greenways Network. He is committed to working with BGI to build a more sustainable, equitable, and connected Brooklyn.
