Darren was born James William Ercolani on June 8, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his acting career in the late 1950s, appearing in small roles in films and television shows. His breakthrough came in 1959 when he was cast as Moondoggie in the film "Gidget," which starred Sandra Dee in the title role.

"Gidget" was a huge success, and Darren became a teen idol overnight. He went on to star in several more films in the "Gidget" franchise, as well as other popular films such as "The Lively Set" (1964) and "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1968).

Darren's Music Career

In addition to his acting career, Darren also had a successful music career.
